Hi I’m 61 and following various back issues stemming from my RA and then diagnosed bursitis i was given further mri and DXA scans. Two disc bulges one abutting nerve at L1/s5 and osteoporosis diagnosed in lower lumbar spine at -3.4 and both hips at -2.5. So ilm battling three pain points. I’ve been referred to Osteoporosis department but this could take months! I’m thinking if I went private to start the infusion I need would the NHS pick it back up when my referral comes up? I can’t wait another 8 months (like physio) as I’mjust existing and anxious about fracturing myself. I also cant get on with strength training because of fear and pain. I’m taking my own calcium 600mg and folic acid and vitamin d any advice appreciated.
Hi,
I know how scary it can be four spinal fractures and spine bone density-4,7 at 66 after part thyroid removal 28 years ago and despite asking for follow up non given. I chose to go privately to be on Evenity and had 3 injections then when I finally got appointment with NHS they took the other injections on So I would always say do it and get your GP to chase appointment when you have had your infusion. Good luck take care Anne x
I would contact the ROS helpline - you will find the details s9me where on this site) and ask for advice. It seems quite shocking that you (and many other osteoporosis patients) are having to wait so long for treatment.
