I have been recently diagnosed with osteoporosis and have spine fractures. I talked to the rheumatologist yesterday prior to starting treatment and she asked me about steroid usage in the past. I did mention that I used beclomethasone dipropionate ( Beconase) for allergic rhinitis, but in the context of current medications rather than directly about steroid use. It is a corticosteroid-steroid and I have been using it since my mid 20s (I am now mid 60s) so a long term user. Online information, including from the NHS, suggests that standard use shouldn’t cause significant bone thinning, but I wondered if anyone had personal experience of this issue.
I will certainly discuss with the rheumatologist when we speak again in a month to decide on my treatment.
