Cracked Vertebrae

Hi

Ive just joined, having had a X-ray in November for lower back pain and right hand side hip pain, got results last week , basically my hip isn’t a concern for now, but X-ray showed up a fractured vertebrae, I have been advised that I require a deep bone scan, to check for osteoporosis, however the waiting time for this in Glasgow area is over 1 year according to my doctor, is this a normal waiting time for scan or is it just relevant to my area .

Welcome to the community!

I don’t know what other people’s experiences have been with DEXA scans, but I only waited six weeks for mine after being offered one, and I was given blood tests as well to check for other potential issues. I received my scan results less than a week later.

I’m living in London and it seems to be a bit of a postcode lottery even here as to how quickly you can get a scan.

I think I have been lucky in getting a DEXA scan and follow up appointment so quickly.
