I started learning flower arranging at short courses at a local adult education centre. I was initially nervous, as I find it a little difficult to stand for too long, lean forward or carry heavy things.
The teacher put me and others in the class at ease. I realised I could sit in class to arrange the flowers, take my time, take breaks, do two or three trips to the car to take arrangements and kit home.
I enjoyed it so much that I joined a local flower arranging club. It’s an effort to get there with all the bits and pieces, but I’ve bought a crafters trolley and prepare as much as I can at home first. It’s made so much of a difference to my outlook and wellbeing, and the social side is fabulous, meeting new people and learning new skills.
