Neck exercise

I’ve been diagnosed with Osteoporosis in my neck, I’m having difficulty finding any exercise recommended for strengthening this! Can anyone suggest a good routine I can add into my morning exercise routine?

I think if I were you I would try to get an appointment (even if you have to pay for it yourself ) with a physiotherapist experienced with osteoporosis and sympathetic to people with osteoporosis. Something like a small physio led Pilates class.

I’m really lucky in that my Pilates teacher is a physiotherapist and has exercises that pretty much cover every part of my body and she can adapt everything we do to suit everyone in the group.

Yesterday for example we (there are only six of us in the group) were lying on out mats and turning our heads from side to side, then moving our heads slowly in large circles sometimes we imagine drilling our noses into the mat, other times when standing we will lower our necks to each shoulder - it’s all done slowly, there are all sorts of gentle but effective exercises you could do. Don’t forget, your neck is attached to the rest of your spine so what you do at one end can affect the other end - if that makes sense. Our teacher has known us all for many years - 15 years for me but more for some of the others. She really knows our bodies better than we do.

So, I would get a bit of advice before you start and I would go slowly and gently and if anything causes pain then don’t do it.
