Hello, I had a bad motorcycle collision being hit broadside by a pick up truck running a red light in Thailand. My left leg had 5 fractures in my lower leg my femour had two open fractures and the head was broken off too. I have a titanium rod running the full length of my femour and a angled bit supporting my head bit. After 10 months I was allowed to fly back to the UK. After months of waiting I was given a bone density test and I was diagnosed with ostioparosis . A bit of a shock as before the truck wiped me out I was a extremely active person. 61 is just a number , I compete with teen and show them up running , cycling, free fall jumping ect ect, lol. Well I did , now I am worried will my bones just shatter. I am still waiting for medication and as yet NHS still hasnt x-rayed my left leg to see what the Thailand surgeons did. I came back to UK on 8th October 2025. Why do they take so long, still learning how to walk again , no physio yet :cry::cry:

Hi Singto Paul,

How awful about your terrible accident, and not getting the scan needed or medication if needed. I did have to wait months before I got my scan, but I went private because I couldn’t take the pain anymore; don’t get pushed aside, I was advised by a doctor online to take someone with you to support your case. Also speak to the ROS specialist nurses who will advise you.

I wish you well and hope you get your scan very soon.

Thankyou for your nice and informative reply:slightly_smiling_face:. I live alone and don’t really know anyone who could accompany me to my appointments. I don’t have private medication money as still paying my Thailand hospital bill. Medical insurances have a cop out clause if your riding a motorcycle over 150cc. I had two covers and both turned my claims down:cry:. My Thai bike insurance covered everything but me. I received a new bike on my insurance a month before my final leg operation :joy::rofl::joy:. My main worry is my bones fracturing whilst engaging in my active life. I dont know what I cannot do anymore. Well sky diving is now a obvious definite no more , lolol. Cycling I am not sure. I cycle very lightly to try and build muscle back up in my leg and to get my knee bending. All I know is the paramedic said my knee had exploded open and my kneecap was recovered about 8 meters away from me. Today I found out a left shoulder x-ray revealed there is a piece of bone broken off it, ( wtf, lol). Tomorrow they are doing a MRI scan to get more detailed view and information about this. I am still more concerned about my bones thinning . My left hand was damaged too, I cant clench a fist no where near it and playing my guitars or keyboard is not possible yet.
I have read a few other new peoples messages and consider myself very lucky compared to the heartbreaking things which they are trying to cope and deal with. I am just trying to find my feet and learn about my condition. I am stubborn and will always find a way to achieve my goals, nothing in my head is impossible.Finding out your bones are thin is scary though :folded_hands::folded_hands::folded_hands:.
