New to osteoporosis

I’m a 75 year old Lady who thought she was very fit, in November I bent over and fractured my spine. I was Absolutely flabbergasted. I was told in hospital it was likely due to osteoporosis. Dexa scan in January, telephone call from hospital in February when informed osteopenia in hips, osteoporosis in spine and it was very severe for my age, could I go to hospital for a blood test to determine why so bad also agreed that I would receive an annual infusion at the hospital. Since then I have heard nothing. There is no letter to my GP nothing on NHS app and no reference to my diagnosis, scan results, zilch. I am now receiving physio which is minimal as I’m still awaiting treatment. Physio has my dexa scan results 3.7 whatever that means ? so I am actually in the system but am feeling a bit shell-shocked and frustrated to say the least so am basically just having a rant

It’s a terrible shock - I wouldn’t worry about having a rant. I’m not surprised you are fed up especially when you have been trundling along quite nicely.

I would speak to your physio and ask who you could contact and either email or phone the department secretary or else get your GP to phone the hospital but it might be better if you try it yourself.

You have to wonder though what has happened though that you have managed to get physio first.

Good luck,

Thank you for your help Lizzie2, unfortunately I don’t know what department to call at the hospital so may have to try GP

It’s rheumatology that you have to contact

I called the fracture liason service today at hospital and it appears my case had been overlooked. Very nice lady thanked me for chasing up, put my name top of list for a call back which I received a couple of hours later, i was sent for another blood test, paperwork is being sent and treatment being arranged. So thank you so much for the advice, feeling much more optimistic.
