No Treatment?

I was told I had osteop. after a DEXA scan in 2017, numbers were 2.6 spine and 2.3 hip. I started on Solgar bone pills my self, bought online, and by the next scan in 2021 the numbers were 2.3 spine and 1.9 hip - not sure but I think that’s an improvement? However since then things have gone steadily downhill and I’m now very immobile due to arthritis. Mainly steroid-induced as I’ve got Addisons disease and take steroids daily for life. I’m in constant pain and cannot stand for more than ten mins which is making a huge impact on daily life, cooking/housework etc.
I’ve never been offered any treatment apart from Co-Codamol which is great and does work! But surely there is more help or advice out there? Can I just go to the gp and ask or will they say oh you’re 76, what do you expect!

EDITED; I have to say I was given an infusion away back at the start of this, Zoledronic Acid. I ended up in A&E with an adrenal crisis due to the Addisons and told never to touch that stuff again as my system couldn’t handle it.

Hi @maryem,

Thank you so much for sharing here especially as it is not always easy to talk about our health  It sounds like you’ve had such a lot to cope with, particularly with the constant pain and reduced mobility now having such an impact on your everyday life.

It sounds like you have some really understandable questions about what further support or treatment may be available, especially after your previous experience. In case it’s helpful, we have lots of information about osteoporosis treatments and medicines on our website. We also warmly welcome you to get in touch with our specialist nurse helpline if you’d like to talk through your situation.

We hope others can also share some of their experiences, and that you can reach out here whenever you need

Wishing you all the best,

Lulu
