I am new here and have started taking alendronic acid for the last month. I’m having trouble with aches in my legs particularly in the morning when waking. Is this common and how did other people cope with it.
Hi Guiness and love your name! I d had similar problems and it seemed like the drug targeted all my arthritic areas. I have a slightly arthritic hip and that became so painful I could hardly walk. Unfortunately after 5 weeks of it getting worse and worse, and then the other one joining in, I couldn’t bear it anymore as I couldn’t be active so I stopped.
I have now, 6 months on, started a different treatment, I am only one week in but the hip pain is starting again so I am wondering if this is just a side effect of the bone strengthening process?
I am now on daily injections of Teriparatide and the side effects can include bone and joint pain.
I will stick with it this time and take painkillers so I can stay active
