Hi. Another post now I have more knowledge from the good people in this forum & from google. Has anyone been given this medicine for severe hip osteoporosis? It seems to work better for the spine but also good reports on hip neck for rebuild also? I have osteoporosis in the spine too but nowhere near as bad as the hip. Thanks
Research shows that teriparatide is more effective than the bisphosphonates for strengthening hips but the extent if the improvement has not been well researched compared with spinal fracture, where it is highly effective.
Bisphosphonates didn’t work for me and teriparatide was the only anabolic drug I was offered so I am taking that. Week six and no significant side effects.
This all sounds very positive, good to hear. It seems to be the best drug. For the NHS bisphosonates are cheaper than teraparatide so budget wise , unfortunately, people tend to be put on the alendronic acid type things first. Take care
