I am just about to start my Teriparatide treatment and have just received my stock, and have Nurse booked in.
I need to source travel storage to keep it cool travelling and wondered if anyone had any recommendations- there are loads on Amazon for Insulin which I guess would be suitable, but recommendations would be useful. Thanks
Hi, I’ve just completed my first 28 days of Teriparatide (Movymia) - so far so good - and it came with a small cool bag which contains a gel pack for freezing. It will take the pen and has pockets for sharps, wipes etc. It is, however only suitable to be used for 12 hours. I have, therefore been looking for alternatives which will last longer for if I want to travel overseas. Obviously I can’t recommend anything yet but have seen ones for 4AllFamily products and have been looking at the Nomad and Nomad Pro which are pricey but have good reviews. I hope everything goes well with your Teriparatide journey.
The case and gel pack provided is fine for short journeys but you’ll need something better for longer journeys (plus a decent ‘fridge in your destination’s accommodation). Try searching for insulin carriers because I found you’ll have lots of choices. I chose cGoldenwall flask - it’s just like your common vacuum flask and does keep its frozen gel pack cool for upto 36 hours. It also comes with a USB cable for you to plug in like a ‘fridge. Mine flew with me a number of times and there was no problem with customs. This is a genuine recommendation!
Thank you, I will look into that make. I havnt been given any sort of travel case and am due on a residential rehab in couple weeks. Ive had to enquire about availability of a fridge too. Suddenly you have to plan ahead for holiday hotels also! We are on a cruise in July so will need to check whether we have a fridge in our cabin ..!!
Hi, I’ve recently had the same dilemma but can highly recommend the MediFlask smart insulin travel case on Amazon. My teriparatide pen fits easily in there, it’s well made and was down to £80 but now seems to be just over £100. It was perfect for a recent weekend away and was almost more reliable than the fridge in the Airbnb. I’m not sure whether the mini bar fridges are suitable, but I can’t remember where I read that now. This flask can be plugged in the wall and set to your preferred temperature. They all seem to be quite pricey but it’s an investment for peace of mind.
