I started Teriparatide earlier this year and am hoping to fly to Ireland next month. Does anyone have any advice on medical cool travel bags for the pen while flying? I have bought a Smart Medicine Refrigeration container but it is really heavy and I wonder if there is something lighter which is still suitable to take in my hand luggage.
I would really appreciate any advice on travelling with this medication (and the needles, etc). I have got the necessary prescription letter. Many thanks.
Hi, I haven’t used this medication myself for my osteoporosis but my mom was prescribed Teriparatide a few years ago and when her initial prescription was delivered, she was also supplied with a small travel case for if she wanted to go on holiday. The doctor at the hospital who prescribed it said that she would add it to her prescription. She was also issued with a sharps box for the used needles.
Have you received your prescription yet? You might find that it’s all included, fingers crossed.
I also travelled to Dublin with Teriparatide. The firm that delivers it supplied a travel cool bag sort of thing and I arranged for the hotel to keep it refrigerated for me. They also supplied a letter to confirm what the meds were for as I had to declare it at Customs.
I Started Teriparatide a year ago and love travelling so was worried if still could.
But found it no problem. 1st I got a cool bag with my injections when 1st starred. It’s 5ins by 7 ins x 1 ins it’s very small Then I got myself a small sealed box for used needles from the Range . I think on return flight from. Malta last September I had used meddles in my hand luggage and carried a letter with me. The cool bag ice block lasts over an 12 hrs
In Malta last September my jabs were looked after in a fridge behind the desk on last night I just asked for ice block to go in a freezer.
I since been on three coach trips in England, one hotel had fridge in room but other than that just asked if they could put it in their fridge. Have found so far no problems.I am going away abroad again in September.
