I hope that everyone is managing in this current heatwave!!
I’m usually very diligent about exercise since being diagnosed with osteopenia almost two years ago. I had some very small, stable fractures but hopefully I can prevent osteoporosis from developing further (or too quickly) with a mix of meds and lifestyle. I’ve been active for many years and since my diagnosis I’ve added weights and resistance to my regular exercise as the research on this is very positive. My physio tells me that I’m obviously genetically predisposed to building muscle quite quickly as I proudly flex my new “Popeye” arms! ![]()
However, everything this week has ‘gone to pot.’ I confess to hardly moving for the last three days and probably won’t do much until this heat passes. I’m sure that a week off won’t do too much harm, but my conscience is quietly nagging about the negative impact of being sedentary. We’re just not able to cope in the UK, our houses and towns are designed to retain heat. So apart from dancing in the freezer aisle of Sainsbury’s I haven’t managed to come up with a solution.
Take care everyone, stay safe and cool. xx
